A research group is the set of examples that meet a fixed rule for a question. Its boundary decides which wider group the result can describe.

A class average is meaningful only after the class list is fixed. Adding or removing pupils because of their scores makes the average self-serving.

Tradour cohorts can depend on source version, label, period, timing, data availability and outcome eligibility. Exclusions carry reason codes.
One event can appear in multiple exploratory views but each confirmatory cohort needs a precise key and deduplication rule.
Inspect inclusion, exclusion, missingness, duplicates and coverage dates. Compare cohort composition with the intended claim.
Post-outcome filtering biases rates, and a narrow cohort may not generalise. Large row counts can still represent few companies or dates.
